I am a disciplined studio artist and a passionate educator, dedicated to the pursuit of art as a lifestyle and calling. I take pride in my innovative leadership, uncompromising integrity, and steadfast commitment to my career and my students. My work draws deeply from observations of unaltered ecosystems, which I translate into surrealist landscapes, often created with watercolor and colored pencil, sometimes I incorporate precipitation. Trees and birds play leading roles in most pieces, symbolically transcribing my feelings to the audience. I love to focus on creation as the subject of my artwork, my time immersed in natures cycles of life and balance, has begun a deep internal quest towards Traditional Ecological Knowledge.
My ongoing research fuses art, science, and health with a focus on fractal geometry in nature and art, exploring its positive neurological effects on viewers. This unique approach, combined with a decade of firsthand exploration of the Appalachian Mountains, has allowed me to develop a distinct skill set that includes advanced sight-approach techniques, deep pattern recognition, and creative process insights that I share with my students.
I am spiritual, the perfection of patterns in the universe, reinforces my personal intuition in a perfect Creator. I feel closest to the Divine when I am being creative. I love making people laugh, I love my family, my dog, and being an aunt. I love rollerblading, and as it happens, I love Ohio. I care about the hearts of those around me, and so I'm determined always, to inspire the best in my students. My instructional environments are respectful and accepting, my teaching style is specific and entertaining, my communication is progressive, my students leave as better artists and more confident humans.
Student Feedback:
“I have always hated art history classes and historically done poorly. Your class is my favorite class. I look forward to Monday and Wednesday afternoons. Thank you for the energy you bring and the way you teach by having us do the art. I have been able to learn more this way than ever before.”
“I just want to say that I thoroughly enjoyed your class. Seeing all this fantastic artwork, and learning the meaning behind all of it has made me have a whole new appreciation, and love, for art. It has helped remind me that our world is infinitely beautiful, and that humans are truly amazing beings. All I can say is thank you.”
"Thank you so much for the feedback Professor! I often pressure myself too much and you make me feel so much more confident."
